**$2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS**

 

The Perryton Police Department recognizes the value of experience in law enforcement. Officers that hold a current Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) may be eligible for a $2,500 sign-on incentive. This incentive is offered to assist individuals and their families during the financial transition of relocating to the City of Perryton.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes
  • Maintains Law & Order
  • Parols City in Police vehicle
  • Enforces traffic regulation that includes issuing citations
  • Investigating accidents, crimes against property and persons, and complaints
  • Interviewing victims & witnesses
  • Taking Affidavits
  • Apprehending persons suspected of crimes
  • Responds to calls for service including disturbances, burglar alarms, traffic and parking violations
  • Serves warrants
  • Writes various reports including offense, accident and arrest reports
  • Checks building and stores for security
  • Testifies  in court
  • Performs other duties as required

 

Minimum Essential Qualifications Include but are not limited to:

Knowledge -

  • Knowledge of modern police practices and methods
  • Knowledge of controlling laws and ordinances, particularly the laws of arrest and evidence

Skills & Abilities -

  • Ability to deal firmly and courteously with other Police Officers and the public
  • Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine the proper course of action to be taken
  • Ability to obtain information through interview and interrogation
  • Ability to speak and write the English language effectively
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations
  • Ability to operate a portable and mobile radio
  • Skill in operating a patrol unit
  • Skill in the use and care of a firearm

Physical Requirements -

  • Constantly sits, sees, speaks and drives
  • Frequently stands, walks kneels, crouches, squats, twists body
  • Pushes, pulls, carries, drags, lifts heavy objects weighing up to 100lbs
  • Pushes vehicles
  • Writes by hand
  • Infrequently crawls, climbs, runs, fights and wrestles
  • Vision must be correctable to 20/20
  • Must have normal hearing

Educational Experience -

  • Applicant must hold a current TCOLE Officer License or be currently enrolled in a TCOLE accredited Police Academy
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age prior to appointment
  • Applicants must be a United States citizen
  • Applicants must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • No convictions of any Class A misdemeanor or above, including DWI offenses
  • No convictions for any Class B misdemeanor within the last 10 years
  • No convictions of any family violence offense
